November Conversation: 2yrs, 5mo

Here’s a conversation snippet that shows how complex Bilingual Baby’s sentence structure is getting. We had spent the night at my mom’s houseJojo’s grandma name for my mom is “Momsy.”

Jojo: Mama, yo quiero despertar (I want to wake up—she says despertar instead of despertarme).

Me: ¿Quieres que nos despertemos (You want us to wake up)?

Jojo: Para decir hola Momsy (To say hi to Momsy).

Me: Yo creo que Momsy esta durmiendo (I think Momsy is sleeping).

Jojo: Noooo. Yo quiero jugar (Nooo. I want to play).

Me: Voy a prender la luz, tapa tus ojos (I’m going to turn on the light, cover your eyes).

Jojo: Ya me tapé los ojos (I closed my eyes).

Me: (turns on light)

Jojo: ¡Está brillante! Me quema los ojitos. Mama, apaga la luz (It’s bright! I burned my little eyes. Mama, turn off the light).

Me: Pero si la apago estará muy oscuro (But if I turn off the light it will be very dark).

Jojo: Mama, está brillante. ¿Me lo apagas? (Mama, it’s bright, can you turn it off for me?)
