“Ehpañol”: 2yrs,5mos

Josephine has the same accent as her Cuban/Venezuelan teachers. She spends twenty-four hours a week with them, so it makes sense. Mostly it means that the letter "s" disappears from words.

Raising a billingual kid in your non-native language

This blog is meant to document my experiment in raising a bilingual child. There are many different scenarios that multilingual families find themselves in. Our is this: both my husband and I are native English speakers and that’s what we speak to each other. I speak to our daughter 99% of the time in Spanish with my non-native fluency. My husband speaks to her in English, but has studied Spanish and understands quite a bit. But my hope is that any family wanting to integrate another language into the home will get something out of what I’ve learned.
